Weaving the past into power:
Guardians of culture and climate resilience
We Raise Resilience,
Rooted in Kastom
We are safeguarding endangered ancestral knowledge by revitalising traditions and digitally preserving cultural wisdom—empowering Solomon Islands communities to face the climate crisis with identity, strength, and intergenerational resilience.
What we do
We rebuild traditional learning spaces inspired by ancestral design. Just as religion needs a church and education needs a school, kastom needs its own ‘haus’ to thrive and uphold its value in reviving knowledge-sharing, intergenerational ties, and traditional governance.
Through our co-designed ‘Kastom Keeping’ programs, we empower knowledge holders and kastom keepers to lead intergenerational learning, revive forgotten customs and stories, and pass down ancestral knowledge as the foundation for locally rooted solutions.
We regenerate Indigenous knowledge through lived practice—and equip our youth and community members to record it using digital tools, safeguarding and building a repository of our cultural heritage for generations to come.
All of that in order to strengthen community resilience, we:
We reconnect people to land, sea, sky, and spirit—rekindling sacred relationships and ancestral principles to guide and grow the next generation of kastom keepers, indigenous knowledge holders, environmental stewards and ocean guardians.

We are only 2 years old, but building bravely has helped us achieve a lot
Our Impact so far…
Restoring 2 Kastom Haus
In Aoke/Langalanga Lagoon, Malaita Province, we restored the Fae’fae—a traditional gathering place once used for storytelling, ceremony, and conflict resolution—reviving it as a living classroom for cultural learning and healing.
This year, we’re restoring the Biu’abu in Maeuria, Tobaita, North Malaita, continuing our work to reclaim sacred spaces for community and kastom.
16 tribal chiefs
We reunited 16 chiefs and elders from 6 communities and 9 tribes in Aoke/Langalanga for the first time in 40 years—restoring traditional roles within community-led governance.
120+ people
We’ve helped over 120 people in 2 marginalized communities in Gizo/Kolombangara document endangered practices and ancestral knowledge that risk being lost.
2 communities
In Gizo/Kolombangara, we’re working with Solomon Kiribati communities through our Waste to Wealth initiative—using kastom to drive climate action, manage waste, and strengthen intergenerational learning.
In Lilisiana (Aoke/Langalanga), we’re building a 60m sea wall to protect sacred sites and the community’s only access to their livelihoods, reclaiming land lost to rising sea levels.

We imagine a future where Indigenous knowledge isn’t lost—but lived. Kastom Kloud began as a vision to store, protect, and celebrate the cultural consciousness of our communities.
-
From village stories to visual tools, we co-create with youth and equip them with skills to document and archive kastom knowledge in ways that are accessible, alive, and grounded in consent and community.
We are also currently building the Kastom Kloud online platform

More than storage—it’s a seedbed. Kastom Kloud nurtures intergenerational learning, cultural pride, and economic resilience for our communities.
